At Second Chance Shelter in Thailand, our volunteers get the chance to work with injured and handicapped dogs. In the same way for humans with injuries and mobility issues keeping them moving is hugely beneficial in their long term care and also for their recovery. So we are quite excited to be able to announce that we have a pool for the dogs to swim in, it’s a stress free way to build up their muscles and give them some exercise. As well as being beneficial for the dogs, it’s also fun, and a great way to exercise them in the heat here in Thailand. So as well as taking our more athletic dogs to the beach to swim, our volunteers can also help our disabled dogs on their rehabilitation journey in their pool.
Future Plans
Our next exciting announcement is that work on our training area is set to commence in August. There will be a roof to protect us from the sun and rain, and a nice obstacle course and some agility equipment that will help us build our dogs confidence ( and teach our volunteers how to train dogs in a fun way ). So keep checking in and see how it looks very soon.
Unique Dog Shelter in Thailand
Is there another dog shelter in Thailand with a dedicated training area and agility course, a hydrotherapy course and professional dog trainers training their volunteers ? No. And it’s just the beginning. We plan to keep improving, the more we improve the better the lives our dogs have here. This is all made possible by our volunteer programs.
